Celebration is an oil painting of some white daises in a summer meadow at the end of a summer evening. The landscape behind the flowers shows a glowing multicoloured field with trees in the background and a golden evening light shines behind them. The daisies are painted in thick generous impasto paint with art nouveau type shapes and patterns. Spots of light or pollen rise up from the centre of the dailies as if rising to the sky. The whole scene is glowing with a golden light that is reminiscent of the last rays of the sun setting in summertime.
It is called celebration because flowers mark the seasons very well and summer is time that really feels like a celebration of life.
