Hares Meadow is an oil painting on canvas of a yellow hare beside a meadow of trees and wildflowers. The style is contemporary art nouveau and is very colourful. The hare sits to the left and looks back at us. She is generously showing us a glimpse of her realm with its trees and flowers and possibilities and the idea of veils or curtains being drawn back makes it a little dreamlike. I have only ever seen one hare in real life and I was struck by how beautiful it was whilst at the same time being so strangely awkward. I can totally see why they often feature in fairy tales and legends about magic.
The background of the painting has been blended and blurred whilst the foreground paint is thicker with more definite brushstrokes. This adds to the slightly ethereal feeling of it.
Like all my artwork, it is a tribute to nature and an invitation to humans to cherish and protect it. It is dedicated to all those who are doing just this.
